We are a Community Cafe based within Harwood Methodist Church, run mainly by volunteers. 
We serve affordable home cooked food and you can always expect a warm welcome from our staff and customer alike.
Our opening hours are Monday – Thursday 10am – 2pm Term time only.
How it all began….
Before the building was completed, the church family began to plan for the use of the building. As this was in lockdown, during the Covid pandemic, these meetings were held over Zoom. Thus it emerged, that for the Cafe, Ann Stone would collect names of volunteers and devise the rota. Maureen, Jenny and Alison would buy pots and pans etc. Together, we came up with a simple menu. Karen did the training and sorted the food standards file. We took level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen certificates online.
So the cafe opened on 13 September 2021. We have grown substantially over that time, both in takings, but more importantly, the friendships formed between volunteers and customers. It really is very humbling to realise how much some of our customers depend on the cafe, for not only the sumptuous food, but the fellowship shared.
We’ve had our ups and downs and made mistakes but here we are, so busy we now need help to move forward. Rosemary has joined the Cafe Management Team, and the church family have taken a leap of faith in employing a manager. There is no other way to put it other than, Kathy Fenton, our manager, is “Heaven sent”. Kathy will be able to take the Fellowship Cafe forward to the next part of the journey. This has already taken the pressure off our “Pensioner” volunteers regarding shopping, rotas, paperwork etc.
